PHYSICAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY In Windsor High School Physical Education classes we pursue goals that enhance each student’s life long interest in activities, personal fitness, and a healthy life style. The curriculum is offered in a non-threatening environment where students work hard each day to improve their own personal fitness, knowledge, and motor skills development. Effort is more important than skill and our focus is on learning life skills along with physical activity such as Respect, Cooperation, Integrity, Perseverance and Team Work. Momentary failure is a part of the learning process in skill development. Therefore, students are encouraged to challenge themselves and set personal goals. Windsor High School does not have the traditional separation of 9th and 10th grade students for Physical Education. We blend our Freshman and Sophomores in classes and run an “A” year and a “B” year to cover the California Physical Education Content Standards and use standards from Course 1 and Course 2 of Physical Education each year. This in our opinion provides an even more dynamic Physical Education Program for students. Year A - Pickleball - Volleyball -Gymnastics/Tumbling - Ultimate - Dance - Self-Defense - Weight room - Hockey Year B - Badminton - Basketball - Aquatics Safety - Lacrosse - Flag football - Team Building - Bowling - Table Tennis More information on each unit can be found under the 'units' tab.

This unit students will need; their reader (the volleyball section), their motivation packet, the health and skill related concepts of fitness packet, and their forearm pass technique testing sheet.
Every day this unit students will participate in their daily warm up (6pts) and a work out of the day (10pts). These can be made up if absent by scheduling a make up during Wed. 8am or a students free block.
This unit students will learn the skills and strategy of volleyball and participate in games, (kings court and tournament style) while emphasizing the life skills of acceptance and motivation. Students will cheer, high five and encourage each other even when on the inside they might be frustrated. They will run team practices and discuss area's of improvement including everyone as a valued member of their team. Students will have to meet with their instructor to make up work in their motivation packet, fitness/health packet and in their reader. We are starting our Volleyball Unit. In this unit we focus on skill, specifically the skill of forearm passing, fitness in relation to training for certain elements of health and skill, and self and peer motivation. Below you will find the skill testing sheet for a forearm pass, the motivation packet and the health and skill related fitness packet. These were handed out in class on August 2nd & 3rd. On August 28 & 29 we started our unit with the first day of forearm passing. Over the next few classes we will work through passing, setting, hitting and serving. We will start game play and eventually tournament play. We will run the mile on September 21st and 22nd.
We completed the fitness gram tracking sheet and turned it in in class. If you turned it in incomplete it was given back to you with a chance to fix it so you could still earn full credit. If you have miss any of the fitness testing you need to schedule a make up for Wednesday morning at 8am to make them up. Mile Sit and Reach Trunk Lift Sit Up's Push Up's Height & Weight
